Tom Mitchell's Music page.
This page relates to my long time interest in music. Late in high school in Sylacauga, Alabama I began playing flute in a band with my brother and some friends. We played dance/rock music and my interest was in that area. As I entered college I began to hear some musicians that interested me very much but played music that I did not understand. This music was jazz. I became hooked. At the age of 18 got a tenor saxophone and intended to play woodwinds as a career. Within a couple of years I got an electric piano in order to learn how improvised melodies went with chords. Over the next few years I became more interested in piano and started to make this my main instrument. I no longer play professionally and for about ten years (my thirties) played almost none as my ex wife and I began a trek to change our lives. These samples are some of those recordings.
All of these were made on a Kurzweil K2600XS keyboard. The song parts were recorded and mixed on the K2600. When a song was OK I then sampled it into the RAM of the K2600. This was then saved to an external hard disk and transferred to a desktop computer where I can create a CD and/or make an MP3 file for the WEB. Remember that these recordings are for personal use only (CYA notice)!! Enjoy and let me know what you think. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted October 13, 2002 La Fiesta by Chick Corea (128 lBits/sec) 5.3 Meg Elucidation by Pat Metheny (128 lBits/sec) 2.8 Meg Posted March 31, 2003 What About Me ? by Tom Mitchell (128 lBits/sec) 3.2 Meg INNcomplete by Tom Mitchell (128 lBits/sec) 5.6 Meg Encephalopolus by Tom Mitchell (128 lBits/sec) 3.2 Meg Nica's Dream by Horace Silver (128 lBits/sec) 4.3 Meg Posted October 27, 2003 Jam with Guitar by Tom/Jamie Mitchell (128 lBits/sec) 2.0 Meg Posted November 9, 2003 Jam with guitar Two by Tom/Jamie Mitchell 2.6 Meg
